All training is provided to help you gain the skills to safely and correctly combat fires and situations as they develop.<\/p>\n<p>The basic training pathway for all volunteer bushfire firefighters is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Induction (provided at the Brigade when an application for membership is completed)<\/li>\n<li>Introduction to Firefighting<\/li>\n<li>Bush Firefighting<\/li>\n<li>Structural Firefighting<\/li>\n<li>WAERN (Radio use )<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Beyond this, there are more advanced courses available through the Mundaring Fire School and DFES.<\/p>\n<p>All training for the Brigade is coordinated by the Brigade Training Officer who will assist you with your nominations for courses.<\/p>\n<p>Volunteers can up skill their skill sets by attending advance courses throughout their involvement with the brigade, some of these higher level courses help to develop skills that can be used not just on the fire ground but also with people personal and work lives. Some of these courses are<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Crew Leader<\/li>\n<li>Sector Commander<\/li>\n<li>1st Aid<\/li>\n<li>Leadership Fundamentals<\/li>\n<li>Level 1 Incident controller<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As a fire fighter you choose how far and how advanced you would like to train to, but all fire fighters must have the basic training to attend fires.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3><a href=\"http:\/\/mfs.bfb.asn.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mundaring Fire Fighters School<\/a><\/h3>\n<p>The Mundaring Fire Fighters School was formed in 1995 by a group of dedicated bush fire fighting volunteers. The Mundaring Fire Fighters School is located at the Stoneville Town Hall, attached to the Stoneville Fire Station. The school delivers all the accredited basic fire fighting courses required for bushfire volunteers, and has also developed it&#8217;s own seminars to compliment and expand DFES training. These courses include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Initial Control at Wildfires<\/li>\n<li>Sector Commander<\/li>\n<li>Prescribed Burning<\/li>\n<li>Crew Leader<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Brigade Training<\/h3>\n<p>In addition to the formal training provided through DFES and the Mundaring Fire School, the Darlington Brigade provide basic ongoing refresher training to members during the normal Saturday roster. Examples of this training include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Maps and Navigation<\/li>\n<li>Radio communications<\/li>\n<li>Extinguisher use<\/li>\n<li>Correct use of Appliance equipment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Brigade endeavours to conduct one large training session for all members once per year, just prior to the fire season commencing. We also conduct training once a month in the evening and also every Saturday morning.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3>DFES Training<\/h3>\n<p>DFES provide accredited training for basic and advanced courses at the Forrestfield training centre, 547 Dundas Rd, Forrestfield. All training bookings and records are accessed via the DFES eAcademy.
